Clients' Shareholder Value with Crystal Ball

Gary Basson is a Manager of Value Solutions Practices for Deloitte
& Touche and has been a Crystal Ball user for approximately
four years. Gary works with clients to develop and implement "value
based management frameworks". These frameworks emphasize maximizing
shareholder value within a company's overall business plan. Crystal
Ball is used to build a framework that translates the shareholder
value concept into the model.
Using Crystal Ball, Gary and others within his department build
a financial model that takes a company's current business assumptions
and makes projections 10 or 15 years into the future to indicate
which areas of the business need attention in order to maximize
shareholder value. For example, the model may indicate that NPV
relative to cash flows is inadequate to maximize shareholder value.
Gary can then incorporate this information into the overall framework,
thus providing his clients with a valuable tool in guiding their
business decisions.
Prior to using Crystal Ball, Gary was required to use Excel
to write lengthy macro codes to perform analyses which were used
on a case by case basis by his clients. Now, Crystal Ball's Developer
Kit provides Gary with the flexibility to automate these processes
and integrate them into the overall framework. The Developer Kit
has the dual benefit of saving Gary valuable time in programming
the framework and also allows his clients to reap the benefits of
Crystal Ball without becoming experts in the use of the software.
The end result of Gary's efforts is a sophisticated analysis tool,
driven by Crystal Ball, that focuses a client's decisions towards
maximizing shareholder value.
